Product Details

The Hofner "Clubs" were small hollow-bodied archtop guitars, and this version is the European 125 Model (Club 40) with one pickup and very little decoration. These very early models have the simple circular control panel with just volume and tone rotary controls. This style of Hofner 125 is the same model as George Harrisons first "electric guitar" (he swapped a Hofner President for it) - John Lennon's first Electric was also a Club 40 but his was a year later and had the rectangular control panel - This hollow bodied electric guitar was promoted by Hofner at the time as being built on semi-acoustic principles with give the tone a round character not found on other instruments. Fitted with the Hofner "Slendaneck" for faster playing speed.

This Blonde 1957 Hofner Model 125 is in really good condition. All original with the exception of the 2 control knobs (modern versions of the classic teacup), although it is also missing its scratch plate. There are some marks/dings to the top, a vacant hole to the side where the scratch plate bracket would have been fitted, and some play were to the side of the neck. The guitar has had a neck reset and as such the action is spot on, as are the fretboard and frets with no real visible fret wear - Comes complete with padded gig bag.
