1960s Harmony H168
Harmony was one of the most successful guitar makers in the USA, manufacturing most all of their guitars in Chicago during the peak years in the mid-1960s. Founded in 1892 by Wilhelm Schultz a German immigrant from Hamburg they made circa 10,000,000 instruments before their demise in 1975.
This late 60’s Harmony H168 was at the premium end of Harmony’s acoustic guitars, featuring a bound Rosewood fretboard, double bound mahogany body with a solid Spruce top. The Birch neck has the distinctive “Fender style” headstock with 6 in-line tuner set. The concert size body is slightly slimmer than most acoustics at only 3 ¼“ deep, but still produces a deep and vibrant tone.
The guitar has been completed refurbished by ourselves including a neck reset (as is normally required for vintage Harmony guitars) along with a new scratch plate, nut and saddle – the top was well worn when it arrived in the shop - we have over lacquered the top preserving the solid spruce top whilst retaining that aged mojo – so back in great shape for the guitar to go on playing for another 55+ years. Comes complete with a “modern” hard case.
