Product Details

Originally introduced in 1961 the Gibson SG Custom was the high-end model in the SG line, with ebony fret board with block markers, split-diamond headstock inlay, three humbuckers and its gold-plated metalwork. This 1974 model was the 4 th style/design of the Custom with some of the Custom’s traditional look, returning to body-mounted controls and jack, the original-style pickguard and a factory fitted, Gibson branded, Bigsby vibrato tailpiece.

This 1974 walnut finished example is in fantastic condition – all original with the exception of the vibrato arm and spring, replacement nut, and and it has been re-fretted. The original nut and spring are included in the case. The Bill Lawrence designed “Tarback” humbuckers sound fantastic and the slim profile neck, combined with the low profile frets, make this a real easy guitar to play. The edges of the body do have some marks/small dings (see last 5 pictures) but overall this is a great example of this 50+ year old guitar. Comes complete with period correct teardrop shaped guitar case that we assume was bought with the guitar originally.
