Introduced by Ibanez in 1975 the 2455 model is visually similar to Gibson's L-4 model. Built in Japan, at the Fujigen factory, the 2455 features a full hollow body, arched spruce top body with bound ƒ holes, selected flamed maple on back and sides, with a single Florentine cutaway.
The set-in hard laminated maple neck with a 20-fret ebonized rosewood fingerboard has pearl block position markers, white bound edges and a black side dots. Components include a wooden bridge with a gold plated T-bar trapeze tailpiece, a pair of Super 70 humbucker pickups, and Smooth Tuner gold plated machine heads.
This 1977 model comes just after Ibanez’s legal fun with Gibson and has the redesigned headstock shape and inlay. Despite being almost 50 years old this guitar is in fantastic condition. The original scratch plate had off-gassed so a replacement has been fitted (the original plate is in a sealed bag in the case). The off-gassing attacks the metalwork on the guitar – luckily here it was only a little tarnishing to the pickup screws under the scratch plate. Other than this the guitar is all original and comes complete with its original Fujigen hard case. The guitar has been strung with a new set of Thomastik Jazz Swing flat wound 12s and is ready for the next 50 years.
