Product Details

Part of the Hofner Professional Line the S7/12 “Razerwood” was one of Hofner's more futuristic designs. Produced between 1978 and 1984, and were available with either six (S7L) or 12 (S7/12) strings. It would seem that it was Barratts of Manchester, Hofner's UK distributors at the time, who first gave this series of guitars the very appropriate nick-name "Razerwood".

This cool looking guitar has active electronics, the original “Razerwood” body shape, and 12 strings on a solid body, making this a pretty unique guitar. The controls for the single humbucker pickup are master Volume, master Tone control, an Acoustic Filter and a 3-way mini toggle switch to switch between humbucker, coils split (single coil) and an out of phase option – really versatile with a huge amount of tone combinations.

The guitar is in great condition for is 46+ years of age – it does have a few minor marks around the edges but nothing major and all shown in our pictures. When built this guitar would have had a single bridge/tailpiece – this has been changed to a traditional stop bar and tune-o-matic style bridge – the infills to the body where the old posts were are just visible under the bridge adjustment wheels. Other than this the guitar is all original and is in great shape, with frets and fretboard also in great condition with no real visible wear – and comes complete with a padded gig bag.
