1985 Yamaha SG-3000S
This SG 3000 is considered by many to be the pinnacle of Yamaha's SG range, and possibly of their whole production line guitars. The SG-3000 debuted in 1982 as the flagship model of the SG series. The Yamaha SG 3000 S, also known as the SG/SBG-3000 Custom, was a deluxe version of the SG 3000 model. With arrow-shaped position markers and luxurious abalone-inlaid perimeter binding, it boasts a look truly befitting a top-of-the-line model.
The body is 2 solid Mahogany wings either side of a Mahogany through neck, topped off with a Maple cap. This 1985 model is finished in a lovely black sparkle gloss. Yamaha also focused on sound quality, equipping the guitar with pickups featuring newly developed Spinnex magnets and nickel-silver plates. The pickup covers were changed from the previous open design to a fully enclosed style, and a paraffin coating was applied to reduce the likelihood of feedback. They are controlled with a 3-way pickup selector toggle switch, individual volume controls and individual tone controls which have push/push function for coil split.
The guitar is in great condition with only some light buckle rash and minor marks, a small scratch to the headstock front, and a little tarnishing to the gold pickup rings to show for its 40+ years (see last 3 pictures). The guitar comes complete with its original Yamaha fitted case.
