This is a super rare Guild Custom Shop Valencia Cutaway model, made in 2002 when the Guild Custom Shop was in Nashville and headed by up Tim Shaw. This is up there with the best Guild guitars we have had in the shop. The build and finish on this superb, and the wood selection is stunning.
The top is solid Spruce with back and sides made out of solid quilted Maple, which just has so much depth to it. The rosette and binding have Abalone inserts. Upper bout is 11½ “, with a 16” lower bout and a 4½ “ deep body. The 5 piece flamed Maple neck is joined to the body at the 14 th
fret. It has a 22 fret, 26” scale, Ebony fretboard with abalone inserts, and a 44mm wide nut. Comes complete with factory fitted under saddle pickup which is wired through an end-pin.
One owner from new it was bought in 2002 in San Jose, California. We have only been able to find one other Guild Custom Shop Valencia Cutaway which was made in 2001 for American singer songwriter Willy Porter.
The guitar has been well cared for and is in near mint condition with only a small black mark on the back of the heel stopping us marking this as mint. The guitar is easy to play with nice low action and has been freshly setup with a set of Dragon Skin 12s on board. It comes complete with its rather impressive croc skin style black leather case.
