The PRS DGT (David Grissom Tremolo) represents over 20 years of collaboration between Paul Reed Smith and David Grissom. Released in 2009, this model is based on the PRS McCarty platform but includes a unique DGT neck carve, taller frets, specially voiced humbuckers, and a revised control layout. David Grissom contributed directly to each aspect of the guitar, ensuring the vintage, Texas-style tone he is known for in studio recordings and live performances.
The body is solid mahogany with a “10-Top” carved, figured, maple top, providing warmth, resonance, and clarity. The one-piece mahogany neck has the signature DGT profile, designed for speed and comfort, taller jumbo frets, and ergonomic shaping that enhances playability for solos and complex chord work. The 22 fret rosewood fretboard has a 10” radius and the lovely outline PRS Bird inlays. PRS Patented Tremolo (Gen II) allows smooth pitch bends – combined with PRS Phase III locking tuners for tuning stability.
The pickups are custom-voiced DGT humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions, delivering a vintage Texas PAF-like tone with a rich, expressive character. The pickups are controlled by two volume knobs (one per pickup), a push/pull master tone knob for coil-splitting, and a 3-way toggle pickup selector switch – you really do have a huge variety of tone available on this guitar.
This 2016 model is in great condition. It does have some very small marks to the body, to the top of the headstock, and some very light buckle rash to the back (see last 4 pictures), but it has clearly been well taken care of. The guitar comes with its original PRS fitted hard case.
