Designed and hand made in his workshop in east London, Viv Wilcock’s range of short and medium scale basses are inspired by over 40 years of collecting, playing and a passion for the instrument, and with a definite nod to the Hayman 4040. He has collaborated with some of the world’s best players to deliver a range of simple, elegant basses designed for working musicians.
The Wilcock 102 Medium Scale bass - designed to celebrate the company's 10th anniversary in 2025 – has long-scale tones from medium-scale dimensions. This stunning looking bass has a Poplar core with a quilted book matched maple top, finished with a lovely Amber Burst. The electrics come in the shape of two custom wound Armstrong 51 pickups controlled by a master vol/tone and a 3-way selector switch. The Roasted Maple neck has a nice slim/fast profile with a Ziricote fretboard. The look is finished off with gold Gotoh bridge and gold Hipshot ultralite tuners. The bass comes complete with a Wilcock branded semi-rigid padded gig bag.
The attention to detail is evident in all Wilcock bass guitars, but even more impressive is how easy they play and sound – if you can, it is well worth the trip to the shop to give one of these a play.
