1930s Dobro Model 14
These original Dobro M‑14 models were produced only between 1934 and 1940. These early resonators were built at the National and Regal factories and featured the famous fiddle‑edge (or violin‑edge) body, created by rolling the metal top and back over the sides rather than soldering them - This method is unique to Dobro instruments of that era.
The metal body has a spider‑cone resonator system, producing a crisp, clear tone sought by blues and country slide players. The round neck joins the body at the 14 th fret – this guitar would appear to have a replacement neck – not unusual for these 90+ year old resonators to have had work to keep them playing. The body lacks the mirror shine it would have had when first produced but looks every part the cool vintage resonator. Comes complete with a modern hard shell case.
