Product Details

Kalamazoo branded guitars were made by Gibson in the Kalamazoo, Michigan factory from 1932 to 1942. This cool looking example is a KG-14, manufactured in 1936. It is an L-00 sized flattop acoustic with a solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides. The mahogany neck has a medium-sized V-shaped neck profile with a 24 ¾“ scale, 12” radius Rosewood fretboard. The ladder bracing (compared to an x-braced L-00) means a less-creamy top and bottom end and an emphasis on lots of snap and punch in the mids. This is ideal for fingerpickers but will also suit flatpickers who need a bit of cut and definition.

As can be seen in the pictures the guitar is in good condition, with the fire stripe guard and perfect bluesy sunburst this guitar has “that look”. The guitar clearly has many marks to the body to show for its 90 years of play, however the fretboard and frets are in great condition (looks to of had a recent refret). There is some buckle rash to the back, play wear to the treble side of the top, and most of the other marks are to the sides/edges. (see last 6 pictures). The neck is straight and true, with guitar playing and sounding superb - comes complete with a modern hard case.

A great example of this classic blues acoustic guitar.
