1959 Hofner Senator Thin
The Thinline body version of the Hofner Senator electric was introduced in 1959, and remained in production until circa 1971 - the body depth is 2" instead of the standard 3¼".
The guitar has a single black bar pickup controlled by the short version of Hofners control panel – tonal variations are achieved with the bass and treble switches. This 1959 model is from the first year of production and is in near mint condition. Judging by the vibrancy of the colours on the body, the guitar has spent much of its life inside its Selmer case. The guitar is all original with the exception of the teacup volume knob which would appear to be a modern Hofner replacement. Only points to note on the guitar are 3 small holes on the scratch plate (no idea why….), tiny loss of finish to the top of the headstock, small bit of playwear on the side of the neck, small mark on the back of the neck and a small mark on the treble shoulder – however we are being really picky here as the guitar is super clean.
The guitar comes complete with its original Selmer hard case (including its key) and the Selmer Guarantee card which has the guitars serial number written on it. The best example of a Senator Thin we have ever seen!
