Product Details

1970 Yamaha FG-180 – Red Label Nippon Gakki – Made in Japan

Dreadnought-style body, select spruce top, mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck with 14/20-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays and three-per-side nickel-plated tuners.

Often described as the “poor man’s Martin” – the Yamaha FG 180 possibly started more of the careers of aspiring singer songwriters during the 1970’s than any other guitar. This particular one all original and is in great condition considering its 55+ years – there are some small marks to the top, sides and back, along with a ding to the top treble side corner of the headstock - fretboard and frets are in great shape - looks like a recent refret.

The action is nice with the saddle cut down pretty low - set up with a new set of Earthwood 12s - The guitar comes complete with its original Japanese made hard case.
