Product Details

While the first wave of Fender acoustics in the mid-'60s strutted a unique modern set of features, the F-series was a more traditional set of dreadnoughts. The F-55-12 was a 12-string entry in the series. Built in Japan between 1972 and 1978 the guitar has a clear Spruce top with beautiful natural finish Bubinga to the sides and back. The mahogany neck has a Rosewood fretboard and a Rosewood veneer headstock.

Considering the guitar is circa 50 years old it really is in great condition, with only a couple of small marks to show for its years (see last 2 pictures). When the guitar arrived in the shop it had a bit of a belly in the top behind the bridge – a common sight in vintage 12 string acoustics. We have fitted a “Bridge Doctor” to bring this back down, but more importantly to ensure that it does not happen again. The guitar has been setup with a set of medium gauge strings and the action is spot on, albeit there is no room to drop the saddle any further. The guitar also arrived here with a sound hole pickup fitted, along with volume and tone controls and lower side jack point. The pickup has been replaced by ourselves with a brand new Fender Cypress single coil sound hole pickup which sounds so much better than what was on there before. We have also added a brand new TGI hard case to the package to keep this vintage 12 string safe for another 50 years.
