Vintage & rare 1977 Gibson Les Paul Special Double Cut Limited Edition, all original and in really great condition. Finished in Wine Red stain with gloss lacquer the guitar has a Mahogany body, a nice slim taper Mahogany set neck with a 22 fret bound rosewood fingerboard, with dot inlays and black gloss headstock overlay. The 2 clear bobbin P90 pickups are controlled by 2 volume and 2 tone knobs and a 3-way pickup selector switch. The chrome hardware includes a Tune-O-Matic bridge with stop tailpiece, and Gibson branded 3 –aside tuners.
The serial number comes back to 1977 and the pots are dated to 1976. The serial number stamp has LIMITED EDITION just above the Made in USA stamp. These guitars were only produced in limited numbers at the time and rarely come up for sale – especially not in the great condition that we see here. It does have a couple of small marks (see last 3 pictures) but for a guitar approaching 50 years old it really is a brilliant example. The P-90s are superb giving out a lot of power and really pushing the valves on the amp. The guitar has been freshly setup with a new set of DR Blues 10s and has a nice low action - comes complete with original hard case.
