1979 Fender Stratocaster
1979 Fender Stratocaster in sunburst finish on an Ash body, 3 bolt neck plate with Maple neck and fingerboard – we love the big headstock Strats……
The guitar is all original with the exception of the tremolo arm which is a genuine Fender replacement. Everything else on the guitar is original, including; the 3 flatpole grey bottom single coil Stratocaster pickups dating to '79; 3 original pots with 7932 pot codes; 5-way pickup selector; 2 string retainers; strap buttons; the 3 ply scratch plate which still has sticker matching the serial number to that on the headstock. The pickups are perfectly balanced and sound fantastic; strung with a new set of 9s the guitar plays as good as it looks.
The guitar is in great condition with only some tiny dings around the edges to show for its 46+ years (see last 5 pictures). The most notable aging sign is the colour of the black on the perimeter of the body that has faded to a dark brown over the years – very common to see in late 70s sunburst Stratocasters.
The guitar comes complete with a “modern” Fender hard shell case which does have a couple of cracks in it but still works well – original spare springs are included in the case.
