The Guild D-40 Bluegrass Jubilee is an American classic - Increasingly popular among fingerstylists and the American Primitive crowd, the Guild D-40 has earned loyal fans for decades as a solid dreadnought alternative to Martin and Gibson options. Built like a tank with a sound perfect for the campfire or porch this 1988 Sunburst finished model offers the deep, woody resonance of aged wood at a very reasonable price.
The build is classic Spruce top with Mahogany back and sides, with a Mahogany neck, Rosewood fretboard, Rosewood bridge and Grover tuners. As can be seen in the pictures the guitar is in fantastic condition. The lovely sunburst finished body has one tiny mark on the back and some very very light pick marks to the scratch plate and on the body below the scratch plate (too light to see on any pictures). The frets and fretboard are in great condition with no real visible wear, there is a small mark to the back of the neck (see last picture) – overall great condition for a 37+ year old guitar.
We actually sold this guitar last year, however it suffered a bit of an impact during shipping resulting in the headstock cracking at the joint. Our luthier has carried out the repair and the guitar is now stronger than ever. We have also installed a new nut and setup with a brand new set of Elixir 12s - the guitar comes complete with a hard case of similar age. Because of the works carried out we have reduced the price for the resale by £250 - a great price for this fantastic vintage guitar.
