1996 Ibanez Artstar AS200
Initially a replacement for the Artist 2360, the Ibanez AS200 came into its own right as a favourite guitar for blues and jazz guitarists in the 1980s, most notably John Scofield, who names it as one of the best guitars he's ever played. It differs from the AS100 in its use of flamed maple and block inlays. In 1987, "Artist" was dropped from the name, and the AS200 became part of the Artstar series.
This 1996 model was Made by Fujigen, Japan in February 1996. It is all original and in absolutely mint condition – looks like it came out of the factory yesterday – and the flame to the maple top and back is particularly nice. Strung with a brand new set of Thomastik Jazz Swing Flatwound 11s and comes complete with its original hard case which is in equally good condition.
