2002 Guild X-500
Introduced in 1953, the Guild Stuart X-500 remained the top of the Guild electric line for over four decades, and incorporates design features similar to a number of its ultra-premium competitors.
The X500 has a 17" Venetian cutaway body, with an arched spruce top and flamed maple back and sides. The headstock is adorned with the G-shield Guild logo, common to the higher-end Guilds, with a three-layer binding that contrasts beautifully with the black veneer. The neck is 5-piece with two thin strips of mahogany joining the three layers of beautiful flamed maple. The fretboard is black bound ebony with Guild V-blocks inlays of abalone and mother-of-pearl. The highly flamed body is bound back and front with an opulent 9-layer binding, with a 3-layer binding on the F-holes. The guitar is finished off with gold hardware, including the ornate G tail piece and the Grover Rotomatics tuners. In common with most top end Guilds from this period the gold finish on this guitar has worn off the tuner buttons and a little bit of the neck pickup cover.
Made in the Corona factory in the US in 2002 the guitar is still in fantastic condition with only the gold tarnishing to the gold hardware and a bit of lacquer crazing to the top to shop for its age (see last 4 pictures) - there is no visible wear to the frets or fretboard. The guitar has been setup with a new set of Thomastik Jazz Swing Flat Wound 12s and comes complete with its original Guild hard case.
