The Gibson Les Paul Standard Premium Plus debuted in 2002 as an option for those seeking a higher grade maple top. It features a Maple cap with a lot of figure, that extends across the entire length and width of the top, distinguishing it from the Standard model, which has a plain top.
In addition to the AAA Maple top this 2003 Les Paul Standard Premium Plus features the usual Mahogany body, ’60’s slim taper profile Mahogany neck, Rosewood fretboard, high performance Burstbucker Pro pickups and a smaller, vintage-style headstock with Gibson Deluxe keystone tuners.
The guitar is finished in stunning Light Burst over the highly figured Maple top. The guitar was purchased by a UK collector in the US and has been in storage since it arrived in the UK – so the guitar is in mint condition with only a little tarnishing on the pickup covers to show for its 23 years. Unusually the guitar comes complete with a Gibson Historic hard case – this was the case given to the buyer to ship it back to the UK.
