This 2005 Les Paul Standard started life as a Cherry Sunburst guitar. The guitar has been tastefully refinished and converted into a “Greeny” replica complete with aged nickel hardware, mis-matched control knobs, flipped neck pickup, light relic work and an excellent Greeny replica refinish to the maple top. The back has been rubbed down to a matt finish with a couple of buckle rash marks, there is some play wear to the neck and a small loss of finish to the top of the headstock.
Greeny is a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard, named after its first famous owner, Peter Green in 1964/5. He used it during his time in John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and Fleetwood Mac, before selling it to Gary Moore in the early 1970s. Moore used the guitar throughout his career, both as a solo artist and in bands, such as Thin Lizzy. In 2014, Greeny was acquired by Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett, who has since used it both in the studio and during live performances. The guitar is known for its unique out-of-phase tone, which is the result of a reversed magnet in the neck pickup. This sound has become highly sought-after amongst guitar players, so much so that flipping the magnet in the neck pickup has been affectionately referred to as the "Peter Green mod".
The hardware and electrics are all original (with exception of the knobs) - the pickups are a set of excellent Burstbucker AL V. The setup on the guitar is fantastic with really low action and a new set of 10s on board. The guitar comes complete with its original Gibson hardcase which is missing the latch for the combination lock. If you are a Greeny fan then get this superb replica for about a 10 th
