2005 Jimmy Moon The Glasgow Rose Limited Edition (No. 1 of 10)
The inspiration for this guitar came from appreciation of the work of Glasgow artist and architect Charles Rennie MacKintosh. Some very special African Rosewood (dalbergia baroni) was used for the back and sides and Master Grade Sitka Spruce for the soundboard. Artist Don McNeish from the Isle of Arran was commissioned by Jimmy to design the headstock, fingerboard and rosette inlays. Abalone shell and Mother of Pearl are used for this intricate work – the end result is simply stunning. Beautifully crafted Waverley tuners adorn the headstock with ivoroid buttons and gear cap to match the body binding.
This truly outstanding guitar was built to order as a limited edition of ten – this example is Number 1, and Jimmy has subsequently provided the original artwork from Don McNeish for the headstock, fingerboard and rosette inlays to be included with this “first of the run” guitar. The guitar is still in excellent condition with only 2 small marks on the top stopping us marking this as mint condition (see last picture). As well as the original artwork the guitar comes complete with its Moon embroidered Ameritage hard case and laminated registration document and Moon description.
A true collectors’ guitar that sounds and plays even better than it looks.
