First introduced in 1949 the ES-175 remains one of Gibson’s most popular guitars and guitar players from Jazz to Progressive Rock have long enthused about the instruments unique tones and playability.
The ES-175 was designed as a hollow body electric archtop featuring a single Florentine cutaway. The guitar has laminated Maple top, back and sides, with a Mahogany set-neck - the bound Rosewood fretboard has double parallelograms inlays. The Florentine cutaway on the 175 was seen as an improvement over the Venetian cutaway that Gibson had been using, allowing players to use the uppermost frets on the neck during performances.
This 2008 model has a vibrant and striking Vintage Sunburst finish – the guitar is all original and in superb condition. The guitar does have a small mark to the bottom of the top, a small mark to the top of the headstock and some tiny marks to the front of the headstock (see last 3 pictures), probably in connection with the installation of the Dietrich Parts String Butler. Comes complete with its original Gibson hard case.
