1950/51 Harmony Cremona Archtop with DeArmond Rhythm Chief floating pickup
Vintage & Rare! Unlikely to see this model, especially in this condition, this side of the Atlantic.
Serial #569. The Cremona VII was Harmony's top-tier archtop, and offered between the mid 1930's and early 1950's. We have dated this 1950/51 based on faded stamp inside the body.
The instrument features a 15.5" wide body, carved spruce top and carved figured maple back and sides, wide herringbone top trim and a dark sunburst finish. Mother of pearl inlays and racing stripe on the fingerboard; pearl headstock inlays, chrome tailpiece, cream-celluloid bindings throughout, and Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and adjustable bridge. Includes a later fitted DeArmond Rhythm Chief floating pickup.
The instrument is in great condition, with original unworn frets - but it does have some signs of it's age. There are a couple of small historical cracks to the top, however the top is stable and these do not affect the sound or playability of the guitar. The detailed inlay to the front of the guitar has had a small repair to the bottom right hand side where replacement inlay has been used, and a bit of buckle rash on the rear - we have tried to show all bumps and marks on the last 6 photographs
The guitar has a full feeling soft-V neck profile, 25" scale, and 1-3/4" nutwidth. It's a comfortable neck, and combined with the instrument's smallish body, it's real enjoyable guitar to hold. It has that classic small-bodied arch top tone, with a lot of punch through the midrange and an articulate bass-end.
Includes high quality hard case with temperature and humidity gauge.
