The President was Hofner’s middle-of-the-range archtop throughout the 50's, 60's, and into the 70's. Introduced in acoustic format around 1953 as the upgraded version of the Model 457 for the UK market, the President is equipped with flamed maple back and sides and a solid carved spruce top, with a single Venetian style cutaway. Triple dot fret markers, neck/F-hole binding, Compensator tail piece and vine leaf mother of pearl inlays to the headstock facia, provided a suitable level of ornamentation for this classy brunette burst finished guitar.
Despite being almost 70 years old this year this all original Hofner President is in superb condition. The guitar is missing its original scratch plate and does have two very small marks to the top (see last 2 pictures). Overall though it is in fantastic condition and still sounds as good as it looks. It has had its neck reset by ourselves and has been setup with a new set of 11s on board. And to top off the package this President comes complete with a brand new Hofner fitted hard case (these retail at £136).
