1959 Hofner 500/5 President Bass ("Stu Sutcliffe Bass")

1959 Hofner 500/5 President Bass - full hollowbody archtop bass guitar often called the"Sutcliffe" Bass because this was the model played by the Beatles original bassist Stuart Sutcliffe back in the bands Hamburg days. This beautiful instrument is in remarkable condition for its age and is in fully playable working order. We understand all the parts are original including the black bar pickups, pickguard, and Hofner's "teacup" knobs, only the floating bridge has been replaced.

Although played extensively back in the 60's the instrument has been really well cared for and is in comparatively excellent condition with no serious dings or scratches on the body. There is some wear evident on either side of the top of the neck. The bass has had a neck reset as part of our refurbishment works so all good for another 60 years or so….
