1966 Epiphone Olympic

Post Gibson’s acquisition of Epiphone in 1957, the company introduced solid-body electric guitars, previously absent from Epiphone’s line-up, which had focused on archtops. Produced at Gibson’s Kalamazoo factory between 1960 and 1969 the Epiphone Olympic is a great example of this Gibson-era Epiphone craftsmanship, combining affordability, durability, and Gibson-inspired design. Epiphone shipped nearly 10,000 units of the Olympic over the 1960s.

This 1966 model has the Asymmetrical “Wilshire/Crestwood-style” body – the most common style of the Olympic, with this design made from 1963 to 1969. The non-symmetrical double cutaway Mahogany body has the “batwing” scratch plate and a single 380 Melody Maker single coil pickup. This model also has the original optional Maestro Vibrola. The Rosewood fretboard has 22 frets, with the neck joining the body at the 21 ^st fret giving super access to the top end of the fretboard.

The guitar is all original and in fantastic condition for its 60+ years. Yes, there are a few small marks and play wear (see last 3 pictures) but overall the body is in great condition with the colours still very vibrant. The neck has play wear to the full length - always a good sign that this guitar is worth playing. Comes complete with a great, period, hard case.
