Product Details

Introduced in 1965, this thinline archtop model has two Florentine cutaways on it's 2" deep body. Finish is tobacco sunburst, and with its fully inset neck joint, as opposed to Hofner's usual cantilever violin style joint, it was much more in the style of a Gibson. The twin Type 511 "Staple" pickups are controlled by a 3 way pickup selector, master volume, pickup blend and master tone controls. The Ambassador was available to Selmer customers only, up to about 1968.

This 1966 model is in superb condition, all original with the exception of a change of pots. Despite approaching its 60 th birthday the guitar has been kept in superb condition – it does has have some minor signs of its age with normal loss of finish to the top of the headstock and some very minor dings and marks to the body (see last 6 pictures). Set up with a new set of 11s this guitar plays fantastic with a nice acoustic voice and a great, vintage toned, electric sound – ready to go on another 60 years. Comes complete with a brand new TGI hard case.
