1978 Fender Telecaster
Originally introduced as the two-pickup Broadcaster in 1950, this Fender model was officially named the Telecaster in 1951, inspired by the rising popularity of television. One of the first commercially mass-produced solid-body electric guitars, setting a viable precedent for bolt-on neck construction and modular guitar design.
This classic CBS era Telecaster features a solid Ash slab body, with a bolt-on maple neck and a maple fretboard. With the exception of the body finish the guitar is all original with the pot codes matching up with serial number to give us the 1978 manufacture date – and it still has its original bridge cover.
From what we can see it looks like the through blonde finish is a very professional refinish, albeit one that was done many years ago. It is in great condition with only one ding visible on the inside of the cutaway (see last picture). The guitar comes complete with a 1970s Fender hard case – not original to the guitar but totally in keeping.
