1989 Gibson Chet Atkins CE
1989 Gibson Chet Atkins CE
Developed by Chet Atkins and luthier Hascal Haile, Gibson released the CE (Classical Electric) in 1982 – an electrified nylon string guitar that would not feedback with high stage volumes. It has a 25” scale length, solid Mahogany chambered body with a Spruce top, and a 47mm nut width (Gibson also produced the CEC model with a more traditional 51mm nut width. It quickly became popular amongst pop and rock musicians such as Sting, Eric Clapton, Brian May, Dave Gilmour and Mark Knopfler - Knopfler started to play one on stage for the Love Over Gold tour.
Despite being 36+ years old the guitar is in great condition. There are a couple of minor marks to the top and some marks to the rear edge (see last 6 pictures) but overall you can see the guitar has been well cared for. Strung with a new set of Augustine Blues – comes complete with its original Gibson tan hard case.
