Each year from 1982 to 2010 Ovation produced a very special model guitar in limited quantities called the Collectors Series.More than just a showcase of different colours or pretty finishes, Ovation used this platform to showcase their latest technology and design concepts. Some innovations became mainstream success while others went back to the drawing board.But every Collectors Series model was unique in its own way and in many cases ground breaking within the guitar industry.
The 1994 Collectors Edition model was this 1712 featuring the superb Optima preamp and eq system. Its mid-depth body gives a nice low and mid response with the sparkle coming from the top grade AAA spruce top. The 5-piece purple heart neck has a lovely ebony fretboard with modern jumbo frets. And the stunning looks are topped off with the figured ash, ebony, maple, and black pearl inlaid rosette and the 1994 12 th
fret inlay.
The guitar is in superb collectors’ condition and comes complete with its original Ovation hard shell case. The only wrinkle we can find is that the chromatic tuner as part of the preamp system is no longer working.
