The original Super-Sonic was part of the Fender Japan manufactured Vista Series, and produced at the FujiGen factory between late 1996 and early 1998. Apparently the inspiration for the super-cool Super-Sonic was a picture of Jimi Hendrix playing a Jaguar upside down……
The body is constructed from basswood and has a lovely Blue Sparkle finish. The 24” scale, 22-fret bolt-on neck has a reversed, CBS-style, large headstock and a thick rosewood fretboard. The ceramic pickups were manufactured in South Korea, with the bridge pickup canted. The pickups are controlled by individual volume controls and a 3-way pickup selector (no tone control). The Super-Sonic also features a traditional Stratocaster-style six-screw vibrato bridge with Fender embossed saddles.
This, all original, 1997 Vista Series Super-Sonic is in great condition for its 28+ years. These original Vista series guitars are well sought after and getting harder to find, especially in this condition. There are a few small dings on the body (really difficult to picture with the gloss sparkle finish) and 2 larger dings to the bottom edge of the guitar (easier to photograph – see last 2 pictures). The guitar comes complete with Fender padded gig bag.
