A genuinely uncommon and increasingly hard-to-find Gibson from one of the company’s more adventurous modern-era releases. Produced for a short period in 2006 as part of Gibson’s Vegas Series, these guitars occupy an interesting space between the feel and practicality of a solid body and the openness and character of a semi-hollow design.
Construction features Gibson’s compact flat-top semi-hollow body, pairing a maple top with mahogany back and neck, along with the distinctive diamond / Trini-Lopez-inspired sound holes that set the Vegas apart visually. The comfortable Slim Taper neck profile, ebony fingerboard with split-diamond inlays and gold frets, and factory-fitted ’57 Classic humbuckers make for an instrument that covers everything from warm cleans through to classic Gibson overdrive with ease.
This 2006 Gibson Vegas Standard is finished in the Wine Red — a colour that really suits the model particularly well as it highlights the figuring in the maple top and gives the guitar a more refined look than the more familiar Gibson bursts. The guitar is in excellent condition showing only very light signs of careful home use and minimal play wear - the guitar has clearly been looked after properly throughout its life. Comes complete with its original Gibson fitted hard case.
These Vegas Standards rarely surface in this condition and are becoming increasingly appreciated by players and collectors looking beyond the usual ES and Les Paul territory. The biggest mystery is why Gibson only produced these in limited numbers as it a brilliant guitar…….
