Product Details

Michael Spalt is a renowned luthier and artist known for his unique and expressive guitars that blend fine lutherie with sculptural art. His work is characterized by the use of reclaimed materials, hand-cast resin tops, and found objects, creating instruments that are both visually striking and sonically rich. Spalt's guitars are built with sustainability, individuality, and musicality in mind, using responsibly sourced local woods and custom pickups.

Michael founded Spalt Instruments in 1997, where he has built over 700 unique guitars, including notable collaborative projects like the Guitar Barrel Project. His work continues to shape how art and music come together—one guitar at a time…..

This stunning 2018 guitar is called Fracture 2 – the contoured Mahogany body has a beautiful hand-cast resin top – the Mahogany neck has a Rosewood fretboard with a slightly rounded edge making it an incredibly comfortable neck to play – the “BoneTop” pickups are a unique complement to this guitar in both tone and aesthetics. The bridge pickup is fitted with Alnico magnets for warmth and dynamics, the neck with ceramic magnets and slightly less windings for clarity and definition. They are then wound to Spalt’s specification by Lindy Fralin or Harry Häussel ,and we agree that these are some of the best-sounding P-90 style pickups we have played.

The guitar is in fantastic condition and comes complete with its original hard case and Spalt case candy – A fantastic and unique guitar of top quality.
