Wide Sky Guitars are high quality guitars, handmade by Patch Rubin in Taos, New Mexico. Rubin launched Wide Sky Guitars in the mid-2010s and has since created a range of acoustic and electric guitars. The P125 model was the first electric, produced from 2018. Inspired by a love of Gibsons the P125 is sort of a cross between the old ES125 3/4 and a Les Paul – This versatile small bodied electric guitar is one of the coolest modern guitars we have had in the shop – right up our street, built to deliver that gritty old electric blues rock sound that we love so much and finished to look the part as well.
The 2 P-90 pickups are made by Cutis Novak and he’s come up with something really special for these guitars - you can howl but also dial in a really great warm jazz tone. The tone pots are connected with replica Bumblebee capacitors from Emerson. They are wired 50s style, meaning the tone controls receive their signal from the output of the volume pot, rather than the input. The position of the volume pot affects the tone control, so the tone will change as you increase the volume.
The 12 ¾” wide body has a carved Maple arched top on a chambered Mahogany body. At just 6.8lbs (3kg) the weight is really comfortable. The 24.562” scale Mahogany neck is equally comfortable with a neck carve similar to that of a ’59 Les Paul, 22 Frets, joining the body at the 16 th
fret. The bound Ebony fretboard has a 12” radius, Black Pearl fret markers and side dots.
The guitar is in superb condition with only a small mark to the top stopping us marking it as mint condition – comes complete with its original Custom TKL hard case.
